Insurance with an education loan

Some banks offer an optional insurance policy when you take an education loan. If the student dies or becomes permanently disabled during the cover period, the insurer may repay the outstanding loan.

Check before you accept

Do not treat the bank’s insurance as the only option. Compare. This is not advice to buy or skip cover.

Check affordability before borrowing

Estimate total course cost including living expenses, compare moratorium-period interest and repayment after graduation, and request a written sanction letter. Ask whether interest capitalizes during study; verify any subsidy with its official portal.

Practical checklist

  1. Identify your exact course, exam or objective, since requirements differ.
  2. Check primary information from the relevant official organization; note its publication date.
  3. Save documents or examples you need and verify unfamiliar claims before acting.
  4. Use the PrimePupil contact form to flag unclear, outdated or incorrect information.
