How to Review a CLAT Practice Test

A CLAT mock review should separate reading challenges, analytical errors and pacing decisions across the paper.

A practical method you can use today

First calculate section accuracy. Next revisit passages that took too long, and mark where the answer was explicitly supported or where an inference was necessary. Finish with a targeted five-question drill for the largest weakness.

Before beginning, select a measurable goal: for example, reduce incorrect answers in one clearly named concept, explain a passage more accurately, or complete a comparable timed set without sacrificing correctness. Write the goal down and review it after practice. This makes your next session more focused than choosing a random activity simply because it is available.

Example: put the method into practice

For a passage asserting “some policies reduced costs,” an answer claiming “all policies reduced costs” overstates the evidence. Mark the exact word that changes the meaning.

Try the approach without looking at an existing answer, then change one important condition or use a different question from the same concept. If the method stops working, locate the missing assumption and study that idea before repeating more questions. A useful explanation tells you why an answer follows, not merely which option was selected.

Mistakes to avoid

Do not use a correct option as proof you understood the passage. If you cannot justify it from the text, mark it as a lucky guess for review.

Another trap is treating every incorrect response as the same type of error. A forgotten fact needs active recall; a flawed method needs a worked explanation; a rushed misread needs a deliberate checking routine. Choose the remedy that matches the underlying cause and record uncertain guesses even when the chosen option happens to be correct.

What to check after your next session

Maintain a list of wrong inference types, difficult passage lengths and sections that cost the most time.

Start with a manageable set, review it thoroughly and return to the concept after a delay. When accuracy on genuinely new material improves, progress to a wider mix of questions or greater time pressure. If it does not, revisit the prerequisite skill rather than simply attempting more of the same problems.
