How to Structure a 30-Day Exam Preparation Plan
Thirty days gives enough time to diagnose weaknesses, practise deliberately and validate improvement with a few mocks.
A practical method you can use today
Week 1: run a baseline mixed test and classify concepts into secure, developing and weak. Week 2: devote the largest blocks to weak units and complete short recall checks. Week 3: mix chapters under time limits and review wrong answers. Week 4: simulate exam conditions and narrow revision to recurring errors.
Before beginning, select a measurable goal: for example, reduce incorrect answers in one clearly named concept, explain a passage more accurately, or complete a comparable timed set without sacrificing correctness. Write the goal down and review it after practice. This makes your next session more focused than choosing a random activity simply because it is available.
Example: put the method into practice
For a maths weakness in linear equations, work through 3x+7=22 to obtain x=5, then check the skill with a less familiar two-step equation. The point is transfer, not memorising one answer.
Try the approach without looking at an existing answer, then change one important condition or use a different question from the same concept. If the method stops working, locate the missing assumption and study that idea before repeating more questions. A useful explanation tells you why an answer follows, not merely which option was selected.
Mistakes to avoid
Do not schedule a mock every day while skipping analysis. Time spent finding the reason for five mistakes is often more useful than rushing through another set.
Another trap is treating every incorrect response as the same type of error. A forgotten fact needs active recall; a flawed method needs a worked explanation; a rushed misread needs a deliberate checking routine. Choose the remedy that matches the underlying cause and record uncertain guesses even when the chosen option happens to be correct.
What to check after your next session
Set weekly targets for unanswered questions, avoidable errors and accuracy on unseen practice. Adjust the calendar if evidence contradicts your initial plan.
Start with a manageable set, review it thoroughly and return to the concept after a delay. When accuracy on genuinely new material improves, progress to a wider mix of questions or greater time pressure. If it does not, revisit the prerequisite skill rather than simply attempting more of the same problems.
Practise what you learned
